2020 changed everything for me.

As for most people, the pandemic lockdown brought my world to a halt. I didn't have a job to go to (schools were shuttered), and most of my usual daily activities ceased. So, I watched eighty-seven sunrises in a row while sipping coffee on my front porch. I built a fence. I read. I spent time with my family. It felt as though I looked up from the plow for the first time in my adult life and took a deep breath. Also, at the same time, I was pivoting both professionally and personally. I changed schools and accepted an assignment that was completely different than anything I had ever done. My three sons were moving into their next chapters of life with college and careers. I was also quickly approaching the next chapter of my life. Change seemed to be happening all around me. And it all came together to beg one simple question- What's next?

And, I suppose, the answer came in the form of the written word.

Besides this whole writing deal, I am a career public high school educator, currently working at a long-term discipline campus. I also have owned and operated a small business for the last twenty-five years. My wife and I have been married for twenty-nine years and have three adult sons. I most enjoy spending time with my family, but also don’t mind the simplicity of solitude that I find in bird hunting. I’m always looking for the next covey rise just beyond my dog’s nose and, if I had my choice, he and I would chase birds towards the setting sun forever.
